We are always looking for an ideal situation, the perfect time, or the right scenario before we are willing to move. We constantly sit and wait, crying out to God for a flawless moment where we can see His hand at play. And when our expectations aren’t met, we justify it by saying, “It wasn’t God’s timing.”

But what if we’ve been looking at it all wrong? What if we discovered we are already resourceful right where we are, not because of what we have, but because of Who we are with?

Take a look at three scenarios from the Bible that clearly teach us this lesson:

1.Moses and the Israelites at the Red Sea. The Lord used what was right there—a staff and a body of water—to perform a wonder. What seemed impossible became possible using what was already available to them. (Exodus 14:15-16)

2.David and Goliath. Everything used to deliver victory to Israel was right there. David was sent to the battlefield with a simple errand, and his sling and stones were collected from a brook. When Goliath fell, his own sword was used to cut off his head, because David had no sword of his own. (1 Samuel 17:45-51)

3.Jesus feeds 5,000 men. What was available—just five loaves and two fish—was used to perform a miracle that transcends all human understanding. (Matthew 14:16-21)

You know what all three of these scenarios have in common? Availability. It wasn't an ideal or a perfect situation, and to wait for one would have been catastrophic. Yet what appeared impossible and unrealistic was done using the simplest of resources, the very things you and I would have downplayed.

What are we downplaying in our lives today? What ideal situation or scenario are we still waiting for? I challenge you to trust the Lord to use exactly what you have available to move you forward and be a blessing not just to yourself, but to others as well. Let’s stop sitting idle and thank God for what we have now to go forward.

Thank you, Father, for You have made us resourceful right where we are. In Jesus's name, Amen.
