John 10:3-5 KJV

[3] To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. [4] And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. [5] And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

When realisation dawns on the NEED to know the voice of the Lord, it's humbling.

We are accustomed to many voices from birth. Our need to differentiate our caregivers' voices from others is one that keeps us safe, especially when we are unable to express ourselves with words as infants.

The presence of many voices in our lives isn’t inherently problematic; their existence is a given, and we cannot avoid them. The crucial challenge lies in our ability to distinguish between these voices—identifying which come from God, which arise from our own thoughts, and which originate from outside influences. Having discernment is a skill that requires intentional practice, prayer, and familiarity with God’s character as revealed in Scripture. Only then can we confidently recognize His voice amidst the noise.
