Filled With Him: A Reflection on 1 Corinthians 13:1–3

Wouldn’t it be comforting to see ten steps ahead? To make perfect decisions, read every situation clearly, and understand people with precision? If only life came with full visibility, wouldn’t that be ideal?

But here’s the catch: you will be doing it all on your own, outside of Him. Would it be worth it?

This evening, 1 Corinthians 13:1–3 came to mind. It reminded me that even the most impressive gifts like prophecy, wisdom, faith, or generosity mean little without love. Love is more than a virtue we aim for. Scripture says, "God is love" (1 John 4:8). When we are filled with love, we are filled with Him.

Sometimes we chase what we think are solutions: insight, control, or clarity. We give, we serve, we try to discern, hoping to shape outcomes. But if we miss the point and are not rooted in Him, it all becomes noise. Just a sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal.

The point is not to have everything figured out. The point is to be His. To be filled with Him. To trust Him to walk you through life and lead you into purpose.

So, if you find yourself anxious, overwhelmed, or searching for answers, remember: being filled with Him is all the confidence you need for a life well-lived.
